Hard to believe that it has been over a month since my last post. In that time I have cut up more books, made a few sales (yea) and gotten a whole lot more tech savvy about promotion on the Internet and especially within etsy. And the bottom line -- it takes a lot of work to stay on top of everything but my motto for September is going to be...a blog a week is good for the soul.
One of the books that I am working on (with a goal of having complete by the French Nest Open-Market Show on September 12th) is the Descriptive Atlas of the US. Published in the 1880's this book is beyond cool. It definitely needed converting to pieces but it is an amazing look back 100 years. It is based on census data and how the world was in 1880 - very different than today in terms of how things were done. I think maybe back then most folks were working so hard to just get through the day alive and fed that there wasn't the time to worry about a lot of the things we focus on today. There prints of both the text and the maps are amazingly wonderful if you like that sort of thing!
On a lighter note....both kids are back in school so hopefully that means more time to work on my book conversion to prints.

Getting Started
One of the things that every forum says about saying a new business is that you need to blog. What am I going to blog about? What do I have to say that anyone wants to read? It sure isn't my exciting life in FoCo but the one thing that I am passionate about and have come to learn a great deal about are the books that I transform for my small business. I call this book art and it consumes all my time and energy.
More to come when I figure out exactly how to make all this blog stuff work.
